Who owns your Meta Business portfolio? Your Pages, ads and pixel hang off it.
The Meta Business portfolio (the artist formerly known as Business Manager) is the holding company of your social presence: the Facebook Page, the Instagram account, the ad accounts, the pixel and its years of conversion data, and the payment methods funding it all. Individual page admins come and go — whoever holds *full control of the portfolio* holds everything at once.
Which is why it deserves its own audit, separate from the Page-level checks. Here's how control works, how to fix it, and the one trap that catches people who try to clean up.
Check who has control (five minutes)
Open Meta Business Suite → Settings → People (if you can't see People, you don't have full control — which is itself your answer). Every person is listed with either full control or partial access to the portfolio. Full control is the one that matters: those people can manage assets, people, and settings — including removing you.
Look for the usual suspects: departed employees, the agency that set it up, a founder's personal profile that doubles as the company's infrastructure. Also glance at Accounts → Pages / Ad accounts / Instagram accounts to see which assets actually live in this portfolio versus being shared into it from someone else's.
Remove people who shouldn't be there

The only-admin trap
Meta won't let the only person with full control remove themselves — a guard against orphaned portfolios. The same logic means your cleanup must run in the right order: add a second company-controlled person with full control *first*, confirm they can sign in and see Settings, and only then remove the people who shouldn't be there. The agency arrangement, done right
